February 28, 2019 is a very special day for everyone here at RS. We are so excited to announce it is the 25th Anniversary of RS Distribution Services Ltd.! The company has come a long way while always providing quality services to its clients.
In 1994, RS Distribution Services officially incorporated and became RS Distribution Services Ltd.. At that time, the company was located at 89 Paramount Road with just 10,000 square feet of space and 3 employees (including the owner).
As the business continually grew, more space was needed. In 2009, RS acquired an additional 20,000 square feet of warehousing space divided between 69 and 71 Paramount Road.
2010 was an exciting year for RS as 2 new companies were founded, RS Express Ltd. and RS Distribution Inc. (RS Shop.ca). With the establishment of these 2 new divisions plus the existing clients’ needs, RS acquired another 20,000 square feet warehousing space at 44 Bunting Street.
In 2014, RS Express acquired one of its competitors, Dart Messenger. This successful acquisition was able to help the company gain more market shares and grow its fleet to over 90 vehicles. In the same year, RS Distribution combined all of its warehousing operation and moved into one facility at the newly renovated 175 Plymouth Street. This new location offered 100,000 square feet of space and allowed all 3 companies to be operated in one main base.
Over the next few years, diversification had become very crucial for RS to stay competitive in its local market. In 2017, RS expanded another 32,000 square feet of space under the current base to attract more varieties of the clientele. And in 2018, RS established its new Rail Siding Service, which required the expansion into another warehouse at 135 Paramount Road, adding 60,000 square feet of space.
In the past 25 years, RS has expanded from 3 employees and 10,000 square feet to 3 divisions with 125 employees, 192,000 square feet and over 100 delivery vehicles. These simple facts speak for themselves. Just like how our slogan evolved from “Committed to Service and Quality” to today’s “Delivering on Your Promises”, RS is and will always be proud of serving our clients with the highest industry standards.
